Indonesian Architecture Week Tokyo 2011

Indonesian Architects Week @ Tokyo 2011” (IAWT2011) is the largest exhibition of international community does architects Indonesia, was held at Gallery 3331 Arts Chiyoda, Tokyo on 24 September to 2 October 2011. IAWT2011 is an official collateral event of the World Congress of Architects UIA2011. It’s really incredible that the works of Indonesian architects can be exhibited in Japan or Tokyo as one of the world’s architectural benchmark.

The IAWT2011 consists of two major events, the exhibition of 46 works of Indonesian Architects and Talkshow with the theme “Indonesian Architecture – Now”. Both series of events is intended to open the eyes of the world for architectural development in Indonesia and Indonesia’s role in advancing the architect of the world of architecture through their works. IAWT2011 exhibition curated by Andra Matin (Principal andramatin) and Deddy Wahjudi (Principal Labo.). 46 selected works of Indonesian architecture is a representation of the current projects of various scales, both houses, the building functions of education, offices, sports facilities, factories, infrastructure, etc.

Gallery 3331 Arts Chiyoda Tokyo where the exhibition took place is one of many public spaces used as a gathering place for community arts, design and architect, and the general public who live / work in the Akihabara district of Tokyo in particular. Masato Nakamura (artist/gallery director 3331) commented that the exhibition of this IAWT2011 change the perception about the Indonesian architecture specially for the people in Japan, that the architectural development in Indonesia has been growing rapidly.
